Costumes and Textiles

The needle arts were an important part of a young lady’s education in days past. In this exhibit is a treadle Singer sewing machine. A cabinet is filled with antique quilts – another of the important needle arts. (Quilts were first made for warmth but also for creative outlet.) A display of antique clothing is hung in a wardrobe. Quilting, sewing, knitting, and embroidery projects are shown in progress.

Material Culture and Decorative Arts

The collection of clothing, furniture, tools and decorative arts will raise and answer questions on the work and tastes of Lampasans long ago.
