LAMPASAS HISTORY BOOKS FOR SALE

This Saturday, at the Hancock Spring Free-Flow Pool 100th Birthday Celebration, the Keystone Square Museum will be on hand with books for sale.

The museum’s photographic history of Lampasas, “Images of America: Lampasas County” (Arcadia, $23.80 including tax) looks at the history of the region through over 200 black-and-white photographs. Many small towns in the county are included in chapters addressing county life, sports, schools, churches, and other topics.

Bobbye Alexander Behlau’s marvelous book “Remarkable Lampasans – and more” ($15) compiles newspaper columns published by the author in the Lampasas Dispatch Record. Read about the interesting men and women who have contributed to the Lampasas community and learn something new about your neighbor! Over 30 lively biographical profiles and photographs.

“Lampasas County, Texas Timeline of Early Events,” by Peggy Wolfe ($15) is a must-have for history buffs. Wolfe surveyed books, articles, and websites to assemble this well-illustrated, concise compilation of events in Lampasas and its communities. 80 pages, fully indexed.

Also available for $15.00 is Lewis Buttery's Regional Texas Maps: 1720 – 2010. It is “A cross between an Almanac and an Atlas”. It contains 84 old maps with texts devoted to the history reflected in the map and by the events of the time. This book is a must for the student of Texas History.

Proceeds from sales of these books benefit the museum.

These books and others are always available for purchase at the museum itself. The Keystone Square Museum is located at 303 South Western, between Second and Third Streets, downtown Lampasas. Regular Hours are Mondays, 10 am to noon and Saturdays, 10 am to 2 pm; and by appointment. Please call 512-556-2224 for more information. The museum is a non-profit organization.
